1st Regiment of Chasseurs of Vistula Legion
by Krzysztof Franaszczuk

Woysko
In 1993, in 180th anniversary of the battle of nations at Lipsk, the members of the Association of Ślęża in Sobótka near to Wrocław saw the historical bivouac, that was organized to memorize this event. Thanks to the both fascination and atmosphere, and finally moved by the fact of lack of Poles there they decided to make it up. At the Association of Ślęża there was organized Historical and Military Department "1st Regiment of Chasseurs of Prince Józef Poniatowski". New troop equipped with the uniforms of the 1st Regiment of Chasseurs of Duchy of Warsaw, weapons and other necessary element of equipment. From that time in the fields of the battles, where fought Poles in napoleonic époque for "yours freedom and ours". We participated in historical bivouacs of "Battle at Katzbach" in Wormątowice, "Battle of nations" at Lipsk, in Gdańsk, Cracow, Ciechnów, at Jena, at Dennewitz, at Gross Gershen and Markersdorf.

On the historical bivouacs, that have been organized in Poland we invited our friends of reenacting from Czech, Germany and Latwia. Special cooperation we started with "The Lützow's Freikorps 1813". That corps set out exactly from the Sobótka, what laid in the beginning of our cooperation. It brought the following benefits:

- organization of the five historical bivouacs of reenacting troops in Sobótka,
- restauration of the monument of the Prussian Upraise 1813 in the Oleszyńskie Hills,
- reconstruction of the table memorazing state in 1813 of Teodor Körner (both soldier and writer in Lützower Freikorps) in Sobótka,
- idea that was finalized by the naming the plac where is located monument of Prince Józef Poniatowski by his name,
- opening in the front elevation of Historical Museum Torchaus Döllitz at Lipsk, that memorized 8 thousands of polish soldiers, which took part in "Battle of nations" under command of Prince Józef Poniatowski.
