1797 April 2 - Wounded at Neumarkt
1798 March 23 - Promoted to general de brigade
1798 August 22 - Chief of staff in l'Armee d'Italie
1798 December 27 - Relieved of duties by the Directory
1799 July 10 - Made general de division and chief of staff to Joubert l'Armee d'Italie
1799 August 15 - Served at the Battle of Novi
1800 May 22-26 - Defended the bridgehead of the Var River
1801 July 24 - Named inspector general of infantry
1805 August 26 - Appointed to command 4th Division of I Corps; serves at Ulm, Hollabrunn and Austerlitz
1806 February 8 - Awarded the Grand Eagle of the Legion of Honor

1815 December 27 - Struck from the list of peers of France
1819 March 5 - Named new peer of France
1826 January 3 - Died at his chateau near Marseilles

Suchet Asked by Dr. O'Meara to say who was the ablest of his generals, Napoleon replied; "That is difficult to say, but it seems to me it may have been Suchet; once it was Massena, but eventually one had to consider him as virtually dead; Suchet, Clausel and Gerard were the best French generals in my opinion".
