Ben Weider

Ben Weider, Canadian veteran of World War II, fitness entrepreneur, founder of the International Napoleonic Society and a leading Bonaparte scholar, died at age of 85, in his lifelong hometown of Montreal on October 17, 2008.
Weider is perhaps best known for his sleuthing into the cause of the emperor's death, which he attributed to arsenic poisoning. He coauthored two books on the subject with Swedish toxicologist Sten Forshufvud, in which the duo detailed findings of high levels of toxic element in authenticated Napoleon hair samples.
On October 12, 2000, France awarded Weider the Legion d'honneur for his efforts.
Weider's son Eric is president and CEO of Weider History Group, publisher of Military History and 10 other history titles.

"Peace is a word devoid of meaning. It is glorious peace we need."
