24 IV 1792 roku podczas patriotycznej uroczystości z okazji wypowiedzenia wojny Austrii mer Strasburga Philippe Dietrich, wezwał młodego kpt. inżynierów Claude-Josepha Rouget de Lisle'a do skomponowania pieśni dla ochotników wyruszających w pole. Napoleon powrócił do Marsylianki w czasie "100 Dni".

(bis)

Sous nos drapeaux, que la victoire
Accoure à tes mâles accents;

"Marsylianka"

Chodźmy, dzieci Ojczyzny,
nadszedł dzień chwały.
Przeciwko nam wzniesiony jest
Zakrwawiony sztandar tyranii.

Czy słyszycie zewsząd
Wrzawę okrutnych żołnierzy?
Wchodzą w nasze ramiona *
Zarzynać naszych synów, nasze kobiety!

Do broni, obywatele! Twórzmy bataliony!
Naprzód, niech wrogów krew użyźni nasze pola!

Święta miłość Ojczyzny,
Prowadź i wesprzyj nasze mścicielskie ramiona!
Wolności, wolności ukochana!
Walcz wespół ze swoimi obrońcami!

Niech pod naszymi sztandarami,
za męstwem podąża zwycięstwo,
A twoi wrogowie gasnący
Niech widzą twój triumf i naszą chwałę.

Do broni, obywatele!

Ah! ça ira, ça ira, ça ira,

Malgré les mutins tout réussira.
Ah! ça ira, ça ira, ça ira,

Petits comme grands sont soldats
dans l'âme,
Ah! ça ira, ça ira, ça ira,

Pendant la guerre aucun ne trahira.
Avec coeur tout bon Français combattra,
S'il voit du louche, hardiment
il parlera.
Ah! ça ira, ça ira, ça ira,

Lafayette dit: "Vienne qui voudra."
Le patriotisme leur répondra
Sans craindre ni feu ni flamme,
Les Français toujours vaincront,
Ah! ça ira, ça ira, ça ira, ça ira,

Malgré les mutins tout réussira.
Ah! ça ira, ça ira, ça ira,

Les aristocrates à la lanterne!
Ah! ça ira, ça ira, ça ira,

Les aristocrates, on les pendra!
Le despotisme expirera,
La liberté triomphera,
Ah!

Ah! ça ira, ça ira, ça ira,
L'égalité partout régnera.
L'esclave autrichien le suivra,
Ah! ça ira, ça ira, ça ira,

Et leur infernale clique
Au diable s'envolera

We Will Win!

"We will win, we will win, we will win",
The people of this day neverendingly sing
"We will win, we will win, we will win,
In spite of the traitors, all will succeed"
Our confused enemies are staying low
But we are going to sing "Alleluia!"
"We will win, we will win, we will win",

When Boileau once spoke about the clergy
"Like a prophet he predicted as much.,
By singing my ditty,
With pleasure I will say:
"We will win, we will win, we will win,

In spite of the traitors, all will succeed"
"We will win, we will win, we will win,"

Punch and Judy sing at the show
"We will win, we will win, we will win,"

Let us rejoices, for the good times are coming
The French people were once nobodies
But now the aristocrats say "we are guilty"
"We will win, we will win, we will win,"

The clergy now regrets all its wealth .
Through justice the nation will have it all,
Through the wise LaFayette
All trouble will be quieted,
"We will win, we will win, we will win,

In spite of the traitors, all will succeed"
"We will win, we will win, we will win,"

The weak as well as the strong are soldiers
in their souls
"We will win, we will win, we will win,"

During the war, not one will be a traitor.
With their hearts, all good Frenchmen will fight,
And when he sees a slacker,
he will boldly speak up
"We will win, we will win, we will win,"

Lafayette says, "Let he who will follow me!"
And patriotism will respond,
Without fear of fire or flame.
The French will always conquer
"We will win, we will win, we will win,

In spite of the traitors, all will succeed"
"We will win, we will win, we will win,"

Let's string up the aristocrats on the lampposts!
"We will win, we will win, we will win,"

We'll string up the aristocrats!
Despotism will die,
Liberty will triumph
"We will win, we will win, we will win,"

And we will no longer have nobles or priests
"We will win, we will win, we will win,""
Equality will reign throughout the land/world
And the Austrian slave will follow it.
"We will win, we will win, we will win,"

And their hellish clique
will be sent to the devil.

Chant du départ – kolejna pieśń rewolucyjna, porównywana często z Marsylianką. Powstała w 1794. Słowa napisał Marie-Joseph Chenier 1764–1811, a muzykę Etienne Nicolas Méhul (1763-1817). Chenier był poetą i dramaturgiem. Sprawie rewolucji służył jak mógł. Był członkiem Konwentu, Rady Pięciuset i Trybunatu. Jest twórcą wielu sztuk historycznych i politycznych. Mehul’a natomiast wichry historii przygnały z rodzinnego Givet do rewolucyjnego Paryża.

La victoire en chantant nous ouvre la barrire ;
Le peuple souverain s'avance ;
Tyrans descendez au cercueil

La République nous appelle,
Sachons vaincre ou sachons périr ;
Un Français doit vivre pour elle,
Pour elle un Français doit mourir. (bis - les deux derniers vers)

Chant des guerriers
La République nous appelle,
Sachons vaincre ou sachons périr ;

Guerriers, elle n'est plus à vous ;
Tous vos jours sont la patrie :
Elle est votre mre avant nous

Choeur des mres de famille
La République vous appelle,
Sachez vaincre ou sachez périr ;
Un Français doit vivre pour elle,
Pour elle un Français doit mourir. (bis - les deux derniers vers)

Chant des guerriers
La République nous appelle,
Sachons vaincre ou sachons périr ;
Un Français doit vivre pour elle,
Pour elle un Français doit mourir. (bis - les deux derniers vers)

Deux vieillards
Que le fer paternel arme la main des braves ;
Songez nous au champ de Mars ;
Le fer béni par vos vieillards ;
Et, rapportant sous la chaumire
Des blessures et des vertus,
Venez fermer notre paupire
Quand les tyrans ne seront plus

Choeur des vieillards
La République nous appelle,
Sachons vaincre ou sachons périr ;
Un Français doit vivre pour elle,
Pour elle un Français doit mourir. (bis - les deux derniers vers)

Chant des guerriers
La République nous appelle,
Sachons vaincre ou sachons périr ;
Un Français doit vivre pour elle,
Pour elle un Français doit mourir. (bis - les deux derniers vers)

Un enfant
De Barra, de Viala le sort nous fait envie ;
Guidez-nous contre les tyrans ;
Les républicains sont des hommes,
Les esclaves sont des enfants

Choeur des enfants
La République vous appelle,
Sachez vaincre ou sachez périr ;
Un Français doit vivre pour elle,
Pour elle un Français doit mourir. (bis - les deux derniers vers)

Chant des guerriers
La République nous appelle,
Sachons vaincre ou sachons périr ;
Un Français doit vivre pour elle,

Une épouse
Partez, vaillants époux ; les combats sont vos fetes ;
Partez, modles des guerriers ;
S'ouvrait a vos mânes vainqueurs,
Nos voix chanterons votre gloire,
Nos flancs porteront vos vengeurs.

Choeur des épouses
La République vous appelle,
Sachez vaincre ou sachez périr ;

Ignorons les aimables noeuds ;

Sachez vaincre ou sachez périr ;
Un Français doit vivre pour elle,
Pour elle un Français doit mourir. (bis - les deux derniers vers)

A nos épouses, a nos soeurs,
A nos représentants, a nos fils, a nos meres,
D'anéantir les oppresseurs :
En tous lieux, dans la nuit profonde,
Plongeant l'infâme royauté,
Les français donneront au monde
Et la paix et la liberté

Choeur général

A representative of the people
Singing Victory is opening the barrier for us;
Freedom is leading our steps,
And from the North to the South the war trumpet sounded
The hour for the fights.
Tremble, enemies of France,
Kings drunk of blood and pride!
The sovereign people is coming;
Tyrants go down in coffins.

The Republic is calling us,
Let's know vanquish or let's know perish;
A French man must live for it,
For it, a French man must die. (bis - the two last verses)

Song of the warriors
The Republic is callings us,
Let's know vanquish or let's know perish;
A French man must live for it,
For it, a French man must die. (bis - the two last verses)

The mother of a family
Do not fear the tears of our motherly eyes:
Far from us, some coward pains!
We must triumph when you take arms:
The kings have to shed tears.
We gave you the life,
Warriors, it is no more yours;
All your days belong to the Fatherland:
It is your mother before us.

Chorus of the mothers of a family
The Republic is calling you,
Know vanquish or know perish;
A French man must live for it,
For it, a French man must die. (bis - the two last verses)

Song of the warriors
The Republic is calling us,
Let's know vanquish or let's know perish;
A French man must live for it,
For it, a French man must die. (bis - the two last verses)

Two old men
Let the fatherly iron arm the hand of braves;
Think of us on the battlefield;
Consecrate the iron blessed by your old men
In the blood of kings and slaves;
And, when you will bring wounds and virtues
Back home,
Come to close our eyelid
When the tyrants will pass away.

Chorus of the old men
The Republic is calling you,
Know vanquish or know perish;
A French man must live for it,
For it, a French man must die. (bis - the two last verses)

Song of the warriors
The Republic is calling us,
Let's know vanquish or let's know perish;
A French man must live for it,
For it, a French man must die. (bis - the two last verses)

A child
The fate of Barra and Viala make us envious;
They are dead but they vanquished.
The coward worn out with years did not know life:
Who dies for the people lived.
You are valiant, we are too:
Lead us against the tyrants;
Republicans are men,
Slaves are children.

Chorus of the children
The Republic is calling you,
Know vanquish or know perish;
A French man must live for it,
For it, a French man must die. (bis - the two last verses)

Song of the warriors
The Republic is calling us,
Let's know vanquish or let's know perish;
A French man must live for it,
For it, a French man must die. (bis - the two last verses)

A wife
Go, valiant husbands; fights are your feasts;
Go, models of warriors;
We shall gather flowers to encircle your heads with them:
Our hands will make laurel wreaths for you.
And, if the temple of memory opens
To your vanquishing manes,
Our voices will sing your glory,
Our flanks will carry your avengers.

Chorus of the wives
The Republic is calling you,
Know vanquish or know perish;
A French man must live for it,
For it, a French man must die. (bis - the two last verses)

Song of the warriors
The Republic is calling us,
Let's know vanquish or let's know perish;
A French man must live for it,
For it, a French man must die. (bis - the two last verses)

A young girl
And we, sisters of heroes, we who do not know
The lovely detours of marriage;
If the citizens express the wish
To join them to our destiny one day,
Let them come back in our walls
Beautiful of glory and freedom,
And let their blood have bled in the battles,
For equality.

Chorus of the young girls
The Republic is calling you,
Know vanquish or know perish;
A French man must live for it,
For it, a French man must die. (bis - the two last verses)

Song of the warriors
The Republic is calling us,
Let's know vanquish or let's know perish;
A French man must live for it,
For it, a French man must die. (bis - the two last verses)

Three warriors
On the iron in front of God, we swear to our fathers,
To our wives, to our sisters,
To our representatives, to our sons, to our mothers,
To annihilate the oppressors:
Everywhere, at dead of night,
In which the infamous kingship is,
French men will give to the world
Peace and freedom.

Chorus of all
The Republic is calling you,
Know vanquish or know perish;
A French man must live for it,
For it, a French man must die. (bis - the two last verses)

Song of the warriors
The Republic is calling us,
Let's know vanquish or let's know perish;
A French man must live for it,
For it, a French man must die. (bis - the two last verses)

Ubiór ów przynieśli do Paryża żołnierze-rewolucjoniści Marsylii oblegający to miasto w 1792 roku. Jednak wracała jeszcze wielokrotnie do historii m.in. w 1871 czy 1917 roku, oczywiście z odpowiednio zmodyfikowanymi słowami.

La Carmagnole
Madam' Veto avait promis (bis)
De faire égorger tout Paris (bis)
Mais son coup a manqué
Grâce a nos canonniers.

Dansons la Carmagnole
Vive le son (bis)
Dansons la Carmagnole
Vive le son du canon !
Dansons la Carmagnole
Vive le son (bis)
a Dansons la Carmagnole
Vive le son du canon !

Monsieur Veto avait promis (bis)
D'être fidèle à son pays (bis)
Mais il y a manqué,
Ne faisons pas de quartier.

ref.

ref.

Amis, restons unis (bis)
Ne craignons pas nos ennemis (bis)
S'ils viennent nous attaquer,
Nous les ferons sauter.

ref.

Oui, nous nous souviendrons toujours (bis)
Des sans-culottes des faubourgs (bis)
A leur santé buvons,
Vivent ces francs lurons.

ref.

The Carmagnole

Mrs. Veto had vowed to slaughter all Paris
But her attempt failed, thanks to our cannoneers!

Dance the Carmagnole
Hurray for the sound, hurray for the sound,
Dance the Carmagnole
Hurray for sound of the cannon!

Mister Veto had vowed to be loyal to his country
But he broke his vow, no quarter now!

Friends, let us be ever united
Fear not our enemies
If they come to attack us, we'll blow them up!

Antoinette had vowed to knock us on our arses
But her attempt failed, SHE has a broken nose!

Her husband, thinking himself a conqueror,
Little knew our valor.
Go, Louis, you big loser,
From the temple to the tower!

The Swiss Guards had vowed
To shoot down our friends
But how they jumped, how they all danced!

When Louis saw some gravediggers,
To the workers he said
That he might soon be in that place!

The patiot has as friends
All the good people of the country
They will all be uplifted by the sound of the cannon!

The aristocrat has as friends
All the royalists of Paris
They will all support him like true cowards!

The police had vowed to support the nation
But they did not fail at the sound of the cannon!

Yes, I'm a sans-culottes, me
Defying the friends of the King
Hurray for the Marseilles men, the Bretons, and our laws!

Yes, let us always remember the suburban sans-culottes
Let us drink to their health
Hurray for these true lads!

apel ten sam... link do strony z melodią

Karmaniola
Ile wściekłości trwoga w was zajadła
Potrafi ciągle z ludzkiej dobyć mowy
A wszak Bastylia wcale nie upadła
I nikt królewskiej nie zażądał głowy

Lud wszystko zna - jałmużnę post i chłostę
I w wasze oczy spojrzy bez zmrużenia
A nikt nie mierzy latarń ludzkim wzrostem
Na szafotach rosną krzyże przebaczenia

Lecz wy widzicie dół kopany w piachu
I sztandar który płynie ponad trony
Nienawiść dzieckiem śmiertelnego strachu
A czegóż mają bać się miliony?

Wszystko się według ich potoczy woli
Choć niejedno jeszcze może się wydarzyć
Póki co tańczmy w rytmie karmanioli
Nim Mały Kapral obwoła się Cesarzem!

Dlatego chcecie stanąć w brew ich woli
By czas odmierzać w spadających głowach
By w rozpędzone dźwięki karmanioli

Dowodził Francuzami przeciwko Prusom w 1793, tłumił powstanie w Wandeii, zmiażdżył rojalistów lądujących na przylądku Quiberon i przygotowywał francuskie siły inwazyjne do wyprawy Irlandzkiej. Muzykę napisał sam Luigi Cherubini, włoski kompozytor, tworzący jednak głównie we Francji. Wieloletni nauczyciel i dyrektor Paryskiego Konserwatorium Muzycznego.

Oui, tu seras notre modele
Tu n'as point terni, tu n'as point terni tes lauriers.
Ta voix libre, ta voix fidele
Est toujours, Est toujours présente aux guerriers,
Est toujours présente aux guerriers.
Au champ d'honneur on vit ta gloire,
Au champ d'honneur on vit ta gloire.

Do forumowiczów - mam zamiar jeszcze kilka pieśni przytoczyć, jeśli macie jakieś specjalne życzenia to spróbuję zrealizować.

pozdr.

PS Mam nadzieję że Wódz podziela inicjatywę?
